Dream and nightmare

Dreams of a name that people remember
Crossing the Delaware midst of December
Only one stall for the traveling vendor
Heat so hot it burns coal into ember

A snowy trek with no way back
A footstep seen but not the track
The moon is here, the sky is black
I set the fire, I light the match

I lay to rest my head
Mark my way for up ahead
Close my eyes but I do dread
One mistake and then I'm dead

The sounds of men that are in pain
The constant thumping in my brain
The constant clanking of souls in chains
A little hope that still remains

I open my eyes and then I go
Where to I might never know
The light inside it may not grow
The soul is trapped in hell below

A fight that I may lose
A con as the devil holds his ruse
A politician and untruthful views
A volcano blows and blaze it spews

What is left behind for me to hold
What path or even given road
One hand, you can play or you can fold
Unknown or something, your story told

The darkness is all that I can see
No chance for me to ever flee
No easy way for me to believe
My mind is lost and may deceive

A fight against a shadow figure
One shield, one heart, my last defender
One touch, one brace, the feeling tender
One blow, one punch, straight back to sender

I move on up and say come on
The moon will rise, the start of dawn
The game is here and I'm the pawn
But all my fear inside has gone

I break the wall and go on through
My reason for, my meaning true
The demons ask, who the hell are you
I say, I got some things to do

A sudden rush for the fallen soul
A fight to fix and make it whole
Another win, I'm on a roll
I'm not done until I've achieved my goal

Afraid of me but afraid to fail
A hammer hit, right on the nail
Their story ends, now begins my tale
A treasure found, my holy grail

The devil screams and starts the fight
But I'm not afraid so I'm alright
I break the darkness and turn on the light
No evil near, now out of sight

A victory here and a soul retrieved
From chains unbroken you now are freed
From inside you grows a tiny seed
A place to go, somewhere to lead

An adventure that was never read
A story or tale that was never said
Now here you lay upon the bed
Till the ending song, for when you're dead
