quietly chirping
for attention

a human can
enter your
flights of fancy

sitting statue
hand held out
offering entrance
a small door
garnered with five perches

a token of appreciation
for wanting to understand my
humanness to be closer
to your beauty
to hold your wildness
in the palm of my hand

taking my offerings
so graciously
a mere peanut
to excite your tender heart

to feel the lightness
of your spirit
strength of wings
pushing to fly towards the sky
you land gently
on a tree branch
beseeching me to follow
