Today is the day

Today is the day

If I knew then when I was in the rut
That I could be learning how to conduct
A life full of hope
I would say I smoked to much dope
The way I perceived a life of recovery
Was surely not the way it played out in discovery
I have papers to prove my life anew
       With letters of character from my peers
        And bunches of heartfelt sober tears
        Recovery has been worthwhile
        Watching my son become a child
        With so much love and fun he displays
        How could I ever go astray?
        My demons will always be there
        To try and pull me by the hair
        But my will to change is extraordinarily great
        So Today is the day I cannot deny my fate!
