A Buttercup

I saw a buttercup look up
All bright and glad of face -
To welcome a shaft of light
Beamed to it from space.

Although the day was misty grey
And clouds had lowered down,
This shaft of light flashed
Through the mist to glorify its crown.

A humble little buttercup
Hardly worth a care,
Yet; a golden beam of light shone down
A brilliant robe to wear.

And lend to it a halo bright
Of sweetest golden rays,
A moments reflection of God
From out our busy day.
