The air is thick

Sacrificing all of me
Feeling bonded and helpless
In mental calamity
He has white privilege
but their Blurred vision, and clogged mental sees me as just another....
You can’t feel how I feel
If your not in my skin
To say you understand is just a natural tick
Many days the stares, comments and dismissive gestures have made me mental sick
Even with the ring
Even holding different honorable degrees
Social status doesn’t change the color of my skin
She can be a stay at home and she can be a stay at home
And I am looked down upon
As I put my natural hair in pins

When we’re crossing state lines further south I feel the hate
Some places we’re hesitant to stay

Darker than my children
Even they have a bit of privilege
Parents falsely befriend me because their kids like my kids not because they want a black friend
Those aren’t real friendships they’re just a deal
And I already know the deal when they say they have diversity within their group of friends
They cast me on their show but not on the real set.
we hang out separately
Separated
Segregated from their side of life

Sometimes
Most of the time
I feel like I can’t breathe
The Anxiety, and being one minute a way from snapping
then they’ll  say she’s the average black woman
Naturally
Angry

   So I
Hold a smile
Hold  my breathe
From their sarcastic
Mindless comments
Oh your the mom
Oh your his wife
Ignoring me
Like I’m a third string player
So
I built myself in layers
No straw
No sticks
Stacked layers of bricks
Those bad comments never blew the house of my mental down
Just brushed it with paint
That everyday I wipe down
Wolves keep coming around my tent
I repel with a scripture scent
If I’m not in the mood for nonsense
I give a wild animal what it wants
        Prey
Added with a little poison
the air thick and they can’t see me coming ....
