Talents

You and I, not so same
Cast the die, unlike spots of a game
Fingers of different sizes and length
Made to throw or catch a ball
Short, plumpy and tall
All with a diverse call.

Don’t abuse, nay
Don’t cheat, nay
Seasons will cloud your brain
And talents will serve no more food
to leave crumbs for the dogs
Your past, an outcast cast.

No longer needed in the play
A replacement; a mirror on the wall
Will do. Talents delivered
For saucepan lids to open ajar
Amused at the sight
A pleasant delight.

Talents, given to reveal
The creator’s creativity
A gift to fit the palms that receive it
A queer natural phenomenon
Placed on the heads of every grasshopper
God gave it to you; It’s yours.
