Anymore

“I don’t love you anymore”, You said
with intent to hurt me

But your words
fell to the ground
lifeless, flat
with no impact

“It pains me to say that” you add
selling me sincerity
expecting me to buy that

Anymore? I laughed
That implies you did, before...

But love has never lived in your heart
It’s too dark and calloused
for love to settle in
Too icy and cold
for love to bloom

Any love that manages to
seep in through the cracks
Is quickly sucked dry of all life
By the venomous narcissism
running through your veins

Love for you is,
what you can gain
Demanding an endless reserve
to nourish your every need.
However, you over indulge,
there’s never enough

And without reciprocation,
love never gets nurtured
or replenished,
leaving love to dry up
and wither away

Given I’ve cut off your access
to my abundant well
It’s understandable,
your use for me may have changed

If you were being honest,
 you would’ve said,
“I don’t need you anymore”
And for the sake of accuracy,
I would’ve respected that.
