Are we free
To an extent
Until the coronavirus pandemic happened
Those invisible shackles
Became visible to me
The Gov't exercising their authority
Telling us....
When to leave our house
Telling us....
What to wear on our face
When we're out in public
After they give us permission
I'm confused
Mask or no mask
Some say yes
And others
Professors, doctors
People with master's degrees
Arguing
That it doesn't protect
Not surprising
When our government is involved
Are they concerned about the American people
Not quite
But the currency
We are able to spend
Sometimes I think
The U.S. is a big laboratory
And we are the test rats
And COVID-19
Is a man made disease
(Who really knows)
That they released into the air
And we breathe
Some overcome to the disease
And some
Never get it at all
But seriously
How do we know
Truly know
That Americans are dying from the disease
The Gov't can tell us anything
And most of us will believe
At first I did
Til I seen
Most historic events
Happens around election year
And it's sad
If this is all true
Family members continue to grieve
When pathologists
Are fed up with their jobs
And quick to say
The dead person had the disease
No need
To further see
Just chuck them in a bag
Awaiting internal flames
And at the end of the day
A loved one becomes a statistic
Are we free
Yes
To roam around this man made maze
While these Gov't scientists
Watches over us
Introducing us to this disease
That has changed
Our daily routine
I quickly get stares
When I try to shake a hand
And the person quickly gives....
Me a forearm bump
Are we free
I hate to say....
Not in my eyes I see
