valkyries ride in the north

arctic wind howling
susurrant eerie surreal
whispering spirits

she's eastbound at dawn
heading into the sunshine
of a wondrous day
Southeast
coyotes singing
melodic harmonious
worshiping luna
South
now I'm going south
into contaminated lands
of elves and spirits
Southwest
southwest desert land
sand dry winds scorching sunlight
distant horizon

descending into the west

Author's Note
I wrote this sequence of Haiku a while ago to represent a visonquest and finally got around to organizing them. They were written to be a clockwise circuit of the compass beginning in the cold northwest and ending closer to my home in the western north american desert.
