HEROES

Heroes
Despite this pandemic, that deserves all our curses
It has increased our respect, for our doctors and nurses
Be they in private, or NHS care
Our front-line heroes, have always been there
Also the deliverers, of food, packages, parcels, and post
Helped us through lock-down, when most things were closed
And the thousands of others, who've given straight from the heart
Not forgetting everyone, who kept two metres apart!
During this crisis, we have learn't some good things
To appreciate each other more, and nature that sings
The sky is now clearer, we can taste our own breath
And how awareness, and instincts, can help prevent death
So we must not forget, not all of us have 'others'
There are some sadly, who alone have suffered
Jobs have been lost, lengthening unemployment queues
And our hearts must bleed, for those suffering abuse
So on Thursdays at eight, we all applaud our heroes
As we all live in hope, as the death rate will near zero
Our biggest thanks, to this eventual success
Are to those working in care, and our wonderful NHS.
