The Leaf Of Grief
The Leaf Of Grief
by jemia
there's a gale blowing
outside my window
and a storm brewing
in my heart
my tree limbs branch outwards
leaves, like hope
fall off
into a torrent
that was once, merely a trickle
floating along the surface
but drowning underneath
the tree glances down in dismay
her emerald child is washed away
as she drowns in grief
the pain is unbearable
she soon begins to wither
her bark ages
as her flesh rots
and in just a moment of time
her limbs give way
and she topples over
with a whimpering cry of defeat
she is soon dormant
decaying, and dead
sadly soon forsaken
her golden heart of wood
