human body burning
is five-hundred- thirty-two degrees

the average temperature
generated in a car bomb explosion
is three-thousand degrees

the underground test of a hydrogen bomb
raises surface temperatures by sixty-two degrees
over seven square miles

the launch of an atomic
warhead creates enough heat
to boil Lake Tahoe

a nuclear detonation
produces enough heat to turn
a man to ash in less than ten seconds

so please explain
why was it called
the cold war?
