THE MELODY
Sliding down a slope
slippery with mud,
grasping tree trunks
landing with a thud
on a gravel surface
without any pain,
jumping straight
back up again
to follow a stallion
across an open field,
tripping on an
upturned shield,
stumbling before
stopping on the edge
of a very fragile
ledge of rock,
where a ticking
clock could be
heard, creating
the beat for
a passing bird
to accompany
with a melody,
which echoed across
the open sea.
