~What Wee Know About FUBAR~
~dedicated to a guy named Joe~
in HHH'HS** o'so'long'ago, th'ere
was a
slight l y
e cc entric english-teacher named Joe.
**(Half Hollow Hills High School, aka: Happy Hollow Heads High)
wee kinda became like friends for awhile
he 'couraged I to write rite this poot'ry stuff-
in WWII, Joe was in thee Army in Europe.........
he were in a
'mortuary squad' that went about cleaning up thee
messy'meats & packaging them for they's Final
destin'ation[s]....
''hey Danny, y'know what FUBAR is?...
FUBAR was the poor bastards whose pieces
we gathered up
who were
Fucked-Up-Beyond-All-Recognition, & man, we
hadda do alotta FUBAR work to do.....as you kids say
today, 'it was really A Trip', & yknow what? when it was
all over, they told us we should never talk about it as
it'd be impolite.....Ha!'' ........
hard to even i'magine, ain't it? damn shit wee humanes
do to each thee others........

We still use this in the military today. Along with SNAFU( situation normal all fucked up),REMF(rear echelon muther fucker), 11down and 3up( ate the fuck up). This is a very memorable write. As far as what us humans do to each other I have seen it at a 1000 +yards. Ret. U.S. Army 3/75th Ranger

That's definitely the real meaning of FUBAR. Joe sounds like a good teacher. Euphemism robs language of its power. Literature packs it back in. Packing the messy meats is darkly funny, but I'm also liking how as the piece goes on there's less wordplay. The reader can't squirm out from under the end of the poem by being clever. You stick it in our face and hold it there.
