Sporadic Appearances

Did you light up a little,
seeing me return
from the cerebral battle
that occupied my attention?

Lost in that lonely bed
waking in the middle of a dream
reaching for my shape
intent to fill yourself
with a shot of my heat
to carry you through
till the melodies
of the songbirds
roused you from the peace
to salute a new day

Did you miss the scrape
of my morning bristles
colliding against the curve
before popping those
alert nipples into my mouth
for a rushed enticement?

When I was available,
I took the greatest pride
in making certain
you were ready to march
into that world
with that confident stride
and cloaked secret
of knowing how to truly
have a fabulous day.
