Nourishment
Take me in your loving hands—
Shape me, the clays of your intention,
To make me into something more.
Caress my fragile core...
Softening the numbing bark,
Of this petrified stump of heart,
With the softest eyes.
Rekindled, seed of hope
Lain dormant for centuries,
Long-lying in wait to be watered,
Once again, by the bubbling aquifer
—that is You.
Shape me, the clays of your intention,
To make me into something more.
Caress my fragile core...
Softening the numbing bark,
Of this petrified stump of heart,
With the softest eyes.
Rekindled, seed of hope
Lain dormant for centuries,
Long-lying in wait to be watered,
Once again, by the bubbling aquifer
—that is You.

Dear NB,
This is a beautiful write. Like a soft rain it kind of just washes over you in sweet appreciation.
“Softening the numbing bark,
Of this petrified stump of heart,” the irony of this phrase I love as the piece evolves and then cadences back to the gentle misty rain “Long-lying in wait to be watered,
Once again, by the aquifer that is You.” How we all need to be loved and wanted is a comfort to realize we’re not alone in those desires as sometimes we can feel so isolated and none of the above. Well done. Lovely! H🌷

Love your nature of imagery. So beautiful . So subtle. You can feel the calmness and the patience how one must be loved and nurtured and cared for.

I had not thought about it in that way, but I read over it again with that in mind, and it gave it brand new meaning. Thanks for taking the time to comment and give your take on this poem. I tried to be a little more vague in this one than my usual. I like the idea of people being able to draw their own meanings from things! I'm glad you were able to draw your own conclusions as to what it might be about :)
And... thanks for stopping by again!

'Softening the numbing bark'
I see you getting back your sensation like you lost it.
you're now able to feel the touch of lover.
what a beautiful poem, Bravo! Poet.
More grace.

I'm sorry I'm late to this NB, Beautiful ...
It has the suitableness to it, I love Writes like this.
There is no over-thought, just instant drop into feel/emotion...that's control over what I view as Your strong-suit, You have a firm grip upon Your paintbrush-That's Awesome!!!
Soft Oaken Ink!!!
