Why is it an intelligent race
only looks at recent history
but not the past
which explains to you
the reasons why
for generations they lied
and rewrote
what they didn't believe
to be right
but as the past
comes into the light
and the truth
becomes logic of sight
in whose name

I like the poem but I feel the end has less of an impact than it feels like it should? I think the structure going slimmer seems to reduce the impact of the final lines
