The Adventures of Rat-Bird: The Kitchen

Once upon a time in a messy house there lived a mum, a dad, a big sister, a baby brother, and a parrot called Rat-Bird.
Rat-Bird liked to go on adventures in the messy house, there was always so much to explore.
Rat-Bird's favourite place to explore, as always, was the kitchen. Mum and dad would always leave out something on the kitchen bench for him. His favourite things to eat where apples. pears, spinach, sweet potatoes and cabbage. He once ate all the flowers out of a drink bottle vase, the flowers a gift from one of mum's friends. Mum wasn't sad that Rat-Bird at the flowers though, it was better than watching them wilt and die in the vase.
The drink bottle vase was only one of the exciting things for Rat-Bird to play with on the kitchen bench. He loved playing hide and seek behind the kettle and toaster, and between the stacks of forgotten dishes and tower of paper towels.
Mum and dad also left a special glass dish near the sink where Rat-Bird could take a bath, spraying water all over the window and clean dishes , as he flapped around and squawked in happiness, wiping his wet little body all over mum or dad's shirt afterwards, as he dried himself off,
But as much as the kitchen was a fun place to explore, it was also a dangerous place for Rat-Bird to play in unsupervised, and he was very lucky he hadn't been hurt, like the time he flew onto a hot pan once mum was done cooking, and she ran his little feet under cold water afterwards to make sure he was okay. Mum was worried Rat-Bird would one day fly into a hot pot of water, and always made sure to put a lid on the pots and pans after cooking, so that Rat-Bird could never hurt himself again.
She wanted him to stay safe so he could have more kitchen adventures in that messy house that he loved to explore.
