Relic in the Mind

Access to beauty becomes the angst
when separation is the consequence
of nature showing no regard
for sensibilities of connoisseurs

those who seek the very best
comely visions are their request
just enough to know the gods
have not forgotten splendor’s charm

these reminders are now lost
in the stillness of the monk
not by virtue of holy covenant
instead the cause is spontaneous

demanding distancing in aftermath
by a world turned inside out
beauty becomes a relic in the mind
for those who find charm in vision’s sight.
