numb a tale of darkness

 
otherworldly jokers spin on my periphery
playing their usual game of mockery
incessant babble to numb the mind

full tilt and bleed sideways inside the immortal womb
the raper of faith is about
fetal blood boils...children of shame unite

file the days away in utter disarray
rambling destination unknown
I covet the dark its shaded shininess
always a place to shelter

I searched for reason among the day's debris but came up empty
void of reason I rue the day and her cheerfulness
thinking never mind the morrow
she's lonely enough already

riddled with lies I deflect honesty
recede down the mortal corridor you faithful
innocence is sacred in my company

cold comfort when the light dims
witness the death of me one forgotten word at a time
the darkness grins
