El Norte...north
It seems to me that in "el Norte" most people don't appreciate what they have…
they do all yearn for what they don't yet possess…
They forget how hard they worked
to get...
what they desired so much…
and never slow down long enough... to enjoy the very things
they struggled so intently to acquire.
they do all yearn for what they don't yet possess…
They forget how hard they worked
to get...
what they desired so much…
and never slow down long enough... to enjoy the very things
they struggled so intently to acquire.

Lately I've been soaking up the perfection of a warm day spent on the front porch with my daughter...with her damn cat howling in the window because he can't be in her lap. The simple things are the most amazing pleasures

Puss not allowed on the porch, eh? I find myself knee deep in as yet untried recipes,
and cooking programs are so soothing...
hugs,. Ely

This was a very well composed brevity-having many layers of meaning for such a short write.
You maximized the impact we’ll to this reader by posing questions that linger long enough
to draw in and engage the reader immediately in profound thought- good job I liked it Em...

Dear E,
This poem is a stop in your tracks as you realize how stunningly true this is. Things once acquired are things quickly forgotten as the newer shinier thing is beckoning. It’s a shame and amazing at the same time. I appreciate this reminder. Excellent write. H🌷

Over the centuries so many philosophers have tried to point us in this direction. Great ink Ely.
