Captain of Her Ass
It was nearly dawn.
She couldn't rest.
Today her man was leaving.
The one who knew her first
He knew what she was thinking.
Before she even did.
The one who stopped her drinking.
And got her off the street.
He treated her so kindly.
Nice clothes, a place to stay
And though she walked so blindly.
He helped her on her way.
He always called her sweetie.
Sweet or his sweetheart.
They drew closer together.
She hoped they'd never part.
He was her sugar daddy.
Nothing was too much.
She wanted him so badly.
Sweetness was his touch.
Then one night it came.
The ever longed for bliss
She burst into a flame.
When at first they kissed.
How her passion smouldered.
Now the fire grew.
Til the flames engulfed her.
Then, at last, she knew.
They would always be together.
No matter how much time passed
He'll always be there to guide her.
The captain of her ass.
As the weeks moved on
And melted into a year.
The fire that burned so brightly.
Became a little dim.
Money became the issue.
And so did her slothful ways.
He said he'd become for granted.
And stayed away for days.
And then he'd come back to her.
With all his initial lust.
And the flames, rekindled.
Would lighten up the dusk.
But then he would get angry.
His anger built and built.
He would dam it up inside him.
Until it overspilt.
He would shout so loudly.
Tear the clothes he had bought.
Smash up the apartment
Become so overwrought.
And when the storms were over.
When he'd caused such harm.
He would behave like his old self.
Kind and full of charm.
Then he'd go away.
And be away for weeks
The fire that burned hot
Now tears upon her cheeks.
Then one day he called.
And said he had to go.
There was no explanation.
His voice sounded so cold.
You can keep the apartment.
If you can afford the rent.
I'll be leaving in two days.
Was all that he said.
She was struck dumb.
Mute. Lost for words.
Those words so cold and distant.
Was all that she heard.
And now we've gone full circle.
Come back to the start.
How this girl so blue.
Lost the captain of her ass.
She couldn't rest.
