ESSENCE of the SUNDANCER

Herein the forest seeded by my ancestral blood of (the Numa). Sononi',(Shoshone).

Whistles of whispers upon his breath hover amongst these trails...unearth my deepest desires...calling to reawaken my spirit animal...unleashing the mother of my beast and once extinct in my intuitive wisdom.
The Sun Dancer,( A Cougar, Mountain Lion, Puma, Panther.) I endured as a Shoshone. I, as in all my tribes, " WE REMAIN".
I anticipate the sounds of his claws shredding throughout the floor of this forest. Sprinting into a stride and thirsty for a taste of my flesh. Clinching down my own paws, embedding claws to the limbs of an Evergreen.
I foresee the scene that lays ahead. My appetites are unfolding.
When his scent lingers throughout the air, my body comes to be intuitively focussed, that his presence is near.
The hair on my body angles erect.
Heart-thumping, racing, ripening my vessels, pulsating them under my skin.
I am alive...
Attuned he is coming closer, with each step. His head upward, inhaling my scents, his lungs filled.  Steering him towards me. He is prevailing in his hunt. And, I am eager.
From the sounds of lifeless leaves and fallen twigs, crushing under the strength of his paws;
hunting for me, his appetite for me, a deep hunger and rare desired prey to fulfill.
No longer will he wait to be satisfied.
Seconds fly...my adrenaline overwhelmingly evolves into an appetite...An appetite I once controlled.
I now crave the desire to become his sacrifice.
Mating, with a heated and wild desire.
I have chosen this beast. My desire to hunt by instinct prevails in me as the "Sun dancer'' The female Cougar.
He has come and I am ripe for the taking.
Needing to be caught, craving to battle together,  for the feasting of our natural animalistic instincts.
Be he in my control... I wish not
Yet, I will fight him every step of the way.
He must have the strength to overtake me
I must make him earn me, his desired rare prey
...I am an equally strong opponent and will not succumb easily.
He must control me..by surviving me...feeding his hunger...devouring me...feverishly
I feel his claws embedded into my shoulder and I chirp when he bites his fangs into my throat, clutching me into his submission.
At this precise moment, "He" is alive in all of his male nature. Hunted for his rare prey he now has rapidly attained.
We have fulfilled the appetite of our desires.
I have fulfilled my desire to create with only him and strengthen my ancestor's bloodline.
He will prowl freely and forage until the ensuing desire to hunt me again.
Dominating him alive and I will submit.

Author's Note
I was asked recently of my Shoshone heritage. Although I am half, my experience of discovering my spirit animal has always remained a profound identity of my inner spirit. From the Shoshone tribal blessing, I share with you this, after our indigenous people,( not called an Indian, btw) faced territorial wars amongst other tribes of the indigenous people, ( known as the first people in our lands). Through the genocides of Spain's Conquistadors and the genocides of the Eastern countries migrating to the West. A simple reminder of resiliency is blessed towards all human beings. During this time of uncertainty I give you a Shoshone blessing, " WE REMAIN ". They have remained and so will we all.
