covid 19: Silence

It's 11:00 pm just an hour before midnight
And here I am trying to write something for my entry on this 12th day of NaPoWriMo
My mind seems to be empty of ideas to write about

I cannot think of anything  to spill at the moment that seems worthy of a poem
Except for the things that are going on around in this small town
Tonight, I notice the silence more keenly
It is screaming loudly in the empty street

Covid 19 has taken away the liveliness of this simple town despite its absence
Curfew has been imposed along with the community quarantine
What used to be lively evenings with loud music playing is replaced by nightly silence

The atmosphere is drowning in somnolence
The night has become a veil
Where people hide their fears in its dark shadow
When life is hushed under the lambent light of the moon and stars
