Intimacy in the Time of Corona

Bob invites Sally
on an all-day date.
Not to practice
hormonal marksmanship,
nothing untoward,
he’s lonely and bored,
desperate for companionship.
She, In the very same abysmal state
“Yes please” replies Sally.
Bob arrives promptly at eight.
First stop, a bowling alley.
Though fun, in class it was lacking.
Deciding instead to visit El Prado,
the famous museum in Spain.
Caution to the wind,
they left without packing a thing,
sped to the airport to catch the next plane.
Marvel at Velázquez’s “Meninas,”
at Picasso’s “Guernica,” they cry.
Their appetite turns to more modern arenas.
Bidding adios to Goya,
off to New York City they fly
to visit Warhol at MOMA.
After a stroll in Central Park.
On a lark they stop by the Met,
to rub shoulders with the Opera set.
Under iconic chandeliers
enjoy “Der Rosenkavalier.”
Now home, tired of sitting
they collapse on the bed
and by candlelight
Shakespeare's Sonnets they read.
All things good or bad
eventually stop.
Kisses blown
they say goodnight
Each then shuts down
their laptop

Author's Note
First, apologies to LílDragonfly for unknowingly choosing a title similar to her last work. This piece is born out of the news of all the museums, Broadway show, Operas, movies now made available on line during this global crisis and of course bowling on the Wii. I thought it would be fun to actually do this kind of a date.
