Deep Down.

Deep down,

far below,

my back against the lowest point,

among the bones of those who’d gone before.

Eyes are open,

may as well be closed,

the faintest glimpse of daylight far above from which I fall,

the crushing weight of the empty air confines me to the pit.

The need to reach out my arms,

Withheld by the lack of empathy vacated from my soul.

Invisible opponent whom I know to be myself.

Born into a never ending battle where the blood is spilt within,

The smiles on the surface hide the screams that wake the dead,

The wish to let it end,

Against the need to carry on,

Letting go is just too easy,

A blessing in disguise.

Rise,

Climb,

Chase the sunlight,

Ever hopeful,

Sweet salvation,

…motionless,

Without a care,

No more tears to add to the darkest ocean of troubled torment,

Crashing waves of sorrow,

Anger,

Resentment,

Drifting,

sinking,

the warmest embrace I’ve ever known.

Slipping away,

Letting my demons win,

Game over,

I lose.

They win.

I’ve fallen so low,

Resting on the doorstep of hell,

Internal mechanism of hatred and loathing,

Self inflicted sabotage,

Survival instinct,

Over ridden,

Redundant,

Obsolete.

Why come this far just to return,

To something that’ll only drive me back to a deeper point than before?

Crushing,

Collapsing in on myself,

From the moment of conception they already had me down,

Silent whispers,

Stripping away,

Siphoning my worth getting fat on my potential.

Unwelcomed guests,

Settled in before I came,

My troubles,

My demons,

The only real friends I’ve ever had,

Using,

Abusing,

Growing stronger from my weakness.

Fighting,

Losing,

Exhausted,

Giving in,

Letting my demons win.

Game over.

I lose.

They win.

No sign of an angel to save me from myself.

Rejected.

Giving in.

Letting my demons win.

I lose,

They win.

Game over.
