A MOTHER TO HER NEW-BORN BABE
A MOTHER TO HER NEW-BORN BABE
The smile that veils your lips with such a lovely sight
delights my heart and eyes and gives me trust in life.
I ask the world one boon, to keep it constant there
as when you smile at me, l ascertain your joy.
When your eyes twinkle with the rays of that sweet touch,
I feel l have attained all what the world can grant.
I've brought you to this house, too humble to please you.
I can't discern if l have done what you will like.
I'm sure just of one thing which is l love you much,
and ready to give you my days and all my nights.
I'll bring you what my hand will be able to reach ;
the price l'll ask you for is just your priceless smile.
