Man
Man was not meant to meddle with the laws of creation.
Curiosity has killed more than just cats since.
'Knowing one's place' went out of fashion real fast in the search for opportunity.
Renamed its own kind, enacted its own will, regretted its own actions, loved without loving.
The duality of its being raging through the muddy consciousness floating in a dimly lit abyss.
Unaware of the consequences of time, of Newton's laws, of Einstein's relativity, of magic in the unknown; the eternal struggle persists.
Pressure; building against the membranes of the cosmos, ever inflating the inflated ego.
Victims of the expansion of air.
Greed is what unites this creature.
Ignorance divides it.
Much unlike a cell splitting into two to escape the parent trap.
Set off on its own to explore new possibilities.
Learn and evolve; to be better than it was a moment ago.
Not limited to the lessons of the past.
But the foolish man, unable to see the future, decides against it.
Chooses a prison of familiarity, believing that the fallacy of control stretches far beyond the conscious mind.
Lying to itself, to its own.
Believing that anything outside its being can give more meaning to this existence.
A hunger that can't be quenched is not hunger at all.
Addicted to more than just external impulse, this lifeform passed judgment without remorse.
The tyranny of ambition poisoning its habitat.
If it still knew its place, there wouldn't be need for a cure.
The cure is easier than you can imagine.
What is truly difficult, is man.
