Darkness beyond the stars

“That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die”. H.P. Lovecraft.

In the beyond, it thrashes, cries.
Through unending gulfs where darkness lies.
No-one knows where or whence it came.
Or comprehends its cosmic game.

It would seem beyond our reach.
Past the bounds of infinity.
But it can find you in your dreams.
Curse you with a nightmare scene.

Conjure horrors, alien, insane.
And monstrosities, too dark to name.
Whisper things, beyond space and time.
Blasphemies that destroy your mind.

It is vast, far beyond our scope.
To go unnoticed, our only hope.
Hide from windows, do not peek.
Do not be the one it seeks.

For in the garden where nightmares grow.
In the vast and dark unknown.
Past planets, moons and stars it hides.
In malignant madness it resides.

Author's Note
Most of my writing is fairly flippant. I thought I would try something darker and more serious in tone. This is inspired by the writings of H.P.Lovecraft.
