In the midst of chaos and terror
I find myself smiling
From a simple conversation I had
With someone across an ocean

We were strangers an hour ago
But a Facebook group about a band
Led to a text and then another
And soon enough we were both smiling

We talked about bands
We talked about the world
We talked about our interests
We talked about love

In the midst of chaos and terror
We took a moment to brighten the other’s day
Making us laugh
And live in the moment

It’s these moments that we need
Right here and right now
It’s during these hard time
That we must come together and enjoy what we have

For me, nothing is better than this
Connecting with a stranger across the world
Loving the same music and bands
Not realizing my happiness today would start with a single text
