FINDING MY FATHER
I once had a father
who wrapped me up tight,
used his soft gentle voice
to soothe me at night.
My father was young,
he was loving and wise,
to be in his presence
made my spirit rise.
I lost my father, an
ambulance took him away,
I can still see his face,
I can still hear him say;
"Don't worry, my darling,
I'll be all right!"
I gave him my hand,
he squeezed my wrist tight.
I've been finding my father
since I was eight,
drawn to the protection
only a man can create.
I found him a few times
in family and friends,
in dreams, songs and letters,
always just 'round the bend.
Now I think of my father,
feel his powerful force,
know he'll always be with me,
guiding my course.
For a father is one of the
most precious things,
nothing compares to the
love which he brings.
