My Queen of Pain
There lives a thing in me
its proportions both great and small
as it shifts intent
yo-yoing menace towards safe grey convolutions
swaying a nauseating tilt towards verge
I catch myself
with sweaty grip on my being
fighting like panting dogs
a bent-knee posture
…..my good will bowing to the un-willing
and I know this thing would be my Queen of Pain
her sovereign urge monstrous
would seek to rule whole my rationale
leaving ignorance in tyrannies wake
there is bliss there and some warmth
as it radiates from the glow of Lucifer's Halo
….but I hang on like death
to my railing of cold certainty
hoping for the world
I do not fall
its proportions both great and small
as it shifts intent
yo-yoing menace towards safe grey convolutions
swaying a nauseating tilt towards verge
I catch myself
with sweaty grip on my being
fighting like panting dogs
a bent-knee posture
…..my good will bowing to the un-willing
and I know this thing would be my Queen of Pain
her sovereign urge monstrous
would seek to rule whole my rationale
leaving ignorance in tyrannies wake
there is bliss there and some warmth
as it radiates from the glow of Lucifer's Halo
….but I hang on like death
to my railing of cold certainty
hoping for the world
I do not fall

Wow Calamity, you took my breath away how powerful your words are and the flow and delivery strong yet vulnerable.
POM nomination for sure, good luck!

Very strong outpour here calamity!!!
Yet I very dig that positive note slipped in there :D
The dark delivery of this is right up my current alley.
It crawls in that perfect tempo for despair!!!

Whoa, Jennifer—the entire verse is powerful; however, that final stanza is a landmine!

The battle that rages within may be the destructive.
An insightful write which may lead a reader to examine her/ his own existence.

Thank you so much Gin for directing me here. You make dark into a crescendo even greater than most poets sunny. There is a soft pain here that rises into a virtuosity of despair tinged by hope. Each line is a miracle of dark delight that shows the coping mechanisms of those in depression. Often by delving into the darkness, one finds their way back into the light. This poem is a testament to your will to survive even those dark roads most dare not walk.

Re. My Queen of Pain
darkly scribe probing the inner "Queen of" pains (really loved the emphasizing title) shaping scaping it strong towards hope towards diehard will of chosen path of goodness whatever be the pains pains more pains..you describe it so immensely nuanced to feel feel more intense.. the risk of it all, the destruction, the bloodied war ever goes on..in this making self making ..so pure n hard ...very powerful delivery ..i agree with Soulderatease's,Layla , Ahavati, goldenmyst n all comments above... would watch out more of your deep scribes n dig your past ones too soonest...thanks for the follow & warmth dear poetess... write on shine on more :) x

I am so honoured.. I was floored by your poem earlier, and nothing makes me prouder than a poet of considerable talent finding quality and meaning in my own.....

Second read
I’d catch ya if you started to go
Nurse you back together
Lavender and after care
Just to break you all over again
History repeats itself
So do we
Universal for the broken
Tea and toast with jam
Decadent lullabies
