A One Sided Battle

I am choking on the smog of resentment
tripping and stumbling and lashing out at your contentment.
it fills my lungs and I
scream but you live on
in ignorance as I have this
awful dream
And you grin ear to ear as my soul thrashes
beneath my numb exterior.
Once more, it comes to the ashes;
how they glow, twinkle,then
fall to the ground, discarded.
You move away
and leave me unguarded.
The tears have dried,
but my heart is blackened,
I pray you feel the weight,
as we stagnate in this stalemate.
