Was life meant to be
In this day and year I stand
Awakened to the morning news
Corruption, murders, and conspiracies
Everything is about currency
What a person has or can buy
Living life
Above your means
This is the American dream
Young teens no longer work
Cellphones and video games
Keep them planted on their behinds
No longer a challenge
To do anything
Technology and machines
Faster production by any means
Businesses and corporations
Seeking new start they lie
Across seas they go
And unemployment levels rise
In a time when friends are scarce
Hit a dead end
Somehow that friendship is lost
Like everything else I see
Was life meant to be
To fight the hand
That feeds thee
