Poetry Book

There's something euphoric about taking a book and turning the page.
A book you've had for years knowing that it's full of nothing but pain.
Your poetry book that was bought, decorated, and specifically for you.
With a note from a loved one saying please write until the pain is gone.

The book is so worn and almost falling apart because it's been too long.
It's held together by batman duct tape, but it still isn't holding very strong.
The papers dented by the tears you poured on the pages.
Each page showing your life in all of it's different phases.

Each heartbreak that you have experienced.
Every single friendship that seems diminished.
Poems about family, fear, love, regret, and even about yourself.
I wish it showed how as soon as the pen touched the paper I felt.

I felt a huge rush of relief.
My heart connected a piece.
A piece of what was broken before I wrote.
Fixing something that someone else broke.

It even fixed things that don't have a cure.
This is exactly what you were bought for.
You've fulfilled your purpose and helped me through so much.
So I will continue to fill every page with that smooth pen touch.
