A Tale of Two Souls

Once (or twice) upon a time ago
there lived a sad, and lonely soul.
Far much worse than being alone,
forgotten, was the direction home.

It stood transfixed, full of fear.
A minute passed, or maybe a year.
Sadness overtook, such a feeling of woe.
A consumption that only seemed to grow.

Then, one day, the onset of  confusion.
Had the soul been living a life of dillusion?
For, another chanced by, upon that road,
eyes wrapped in cloth, tapping a pole.

The first soul cried out, "How can this be?!
You walk, yet you are unable to see?!"
The new soul sighed a heavy breath,
"Years, I've walked, and you're the first I've met.
True, I know not where I am going,
but still, I try, even without knowing."

The soul that was stuck began to cry,
for not once had it ever tried.
Defeat was just something it had accepted.
Will and strength had become neglected.

"Please! Take me with you! You're so wise!
You be my knowledge, and I'll be your eyes."
So, side by side, the souls hit the trail.
Together, there was no way they could fail.

Every word of this story is truth.
Much can be gained, if one dares to move.
Should you find yourself in a rut,
don't allow for yourself to get "stuck".
For, if you give in, if you stop trying,
you might as well just get busy dying.
The moment you stop moving your feet
is the moment in which you accept defeat.

Do not fret, no don't feel dismay,
for all is not lost if you've lost your way.
Keep faith in yourself, you'll pull through.
Rely on others when you're able to.
Sometimes, when there is something we lack,
someone else is able to pick up the slack.

Just because you have forgotten where to go,
your feet will remember , and they'll take you home.
