Author's Note
Imo, the original song describes the feeling one gets when they are gradually becoming more distant from something or someone they had loved. The key word in there for me is “gradual”. Separation is not just an instant moment, it is a process that takes lots and lots of time. It is falling into a bottomless pit, only to realize that you’re not actually falling down that fast, but are being gradually lured into isolation. It is until you’ve reached the bottom that you realize you’re completely vulnerable. For that, in this empty space, it is for certain that you’ve become truly alone. Essentially, you’ve hid yourself so well that even tomorrow will never find you, and yesterday keeps trapping you inside it forever.
