Image for the poem guilty

guilty

i turn the other cheek
and find how strong i am
to face someone so weak.
the bleeding lamb

accepts the altar call
because the life he gives
the ransom pays for all.
the dead now lives

because when pride is slain
and self is sacrificed
virtue shall rise again.
the victim Christ

redeems the humble slave
abases haughty kings
and makes the fearful brave.
guilty, he sings

if loving is a crime
and probity a fault
then let me serve my time.
i am the salt

that flavours all the earth
guilty of loving you
because i know your worth.
sing hallelu!
