The longest way home

Galloping rumbling in my head
Racing horses for some bread
Racing horses end up dead
Oh I remember vividly this I know
Sitting at the track as money flow
Every dollar made my face glow
Flight was her name
she ran faster then light
Stumble to the floor and lost her life
All the money went down the drain
Things from their ain't
never been the same
Daddy arguing with some men
Said one day they'll be back again
All i know is we was
Running for our lives
late one night
And Him laughing saying
he would lose that fight
Little did I know he was
Keeping me from being scared
I laugh too without no fear
In the back of my mind its always been
Those men will one day be back again
All these years later.
Him protecting me as a child
The things I suppress in my file
"Daddy when Im old enough
Ill buy my own horse"
Under his lost breath
"of course"
And she'll be the faster we ever seen
Still running and laughing
from the scene
Never told mama as we roamed
Felt asleep dreaming
with an ice cream cone
Ride, Ride, Ride the longest way home.
