Those Who Came Before
Neglecting to learn from the past
Is a form of
Madness
History teaches us well
The present is tense
With errors
What we call progress
Innovation
Is hollow without
The lessons
We continue to stumble
In darkness, fumble
Without the established
Shine of reason
it tells us much
Through precedence
How we err
And, of course, succeed
All trumpeted as
Breakthrough
It would be all for naught
Pure rot
Without the trials
And light shed
By those who came before.
