Still We Rise

Thousands of years
And many more tears
Our ancestors has shed
Standing face to face with authority
Many bloodstains and lives lost
Many footprints paved the way
Marching for change
Protesting for rights
All the way to D.C.
I Have a Dream became well known
Lighting a fire in us
We more than a racist joke
We are people
With a lot of fight
Well deserving of equal rights
From scrubbing floors to icons
From shackles to the White House
Everyday is still a fight
But still we rise
And Black History month
Is a remembrance of who we are
The people who gave their lives
For us
To live ours
