Poetry, To Me

Never failing to destroy    
Beautiful things and opportunities,  
With these tactics I employ,    
I've never fit into communities.    
    
I was always a little eccentric,    
A wee bit different from the rest,    
Maybe even slightly egocentric;    
I could never pass the test.    
   
I'm not a social butterfly,    
In fact, I struggle with relationships;    
Sometimes I even wonder why...   
Why bother with the pain of it?  
   
I just can't seem to keep a friend,    
Always failing every expectation;    
So I pour my passions into poetry,    
To help me with my situation.    
   
I write to help you understand    
Why I have these bitter blues.    
Or what it's like to walk a mile    
Inside these withered shoes.    
   
I write to send a loving letter,    
Or an urgent message to the Earth;    
I write to boost my confidence,    
To remind me of my worth.    
   
I also write to take a vacation    
From the frustrations of my life.    
To give me a sense of placation    
An escape from all the strife.    
   
I exercise my imagination,    
To create an immovable inner peace;    
There lies a seed of poetic liberation    
In each and every piece.    
   
Words lined with gold, in bold,    
From your fragile hearts, you bear.    
So many different worlds to behold,    
Behold! So many stories you've shared!    
   
Through poetic worlds, I venture,    
Exploring every avenue;    
Now, it's time for an adventure;    
But... vicariously through you!
