Collected pages of a fraying mind
Don't we clean up nice?
---------------------------------------
frozen backyard
baulderdash
lights flash from the ridge
oil drip in the driveway
kitchens painted seafoam green just as the trim on the neighbors garden shed
on a view from sink windows
cigarette stains trickle on the ceiling
on the walls
from previous tenants
-------------------------------------------------
when glicking was all the rage
---------------------------------------------
anointed cypress tree
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
hushed, the barbwire fence at the end of the field stood silent
----------------------------
after the milling the remaining women rounded up the men heard to the slaughter house
and steaks taste good in their mouths
and we become one for our remaining years
----------------------------
accidentally pressed my ear to the door
heard the hum of the house
and breaking of a fractured man
-----------------------
when you're a poet and she envelopes you as a coffee shop
adhesive licked shut and sealed.
ruined by opening my mouth
coffee shop glances take us down
bullet to the rabid dogs head
-------------------
maelstrom
slut shame dad bod
copper kettle surprise
-----------------------------
ballroom dance to the midnight voyage
breathe in the lights
scratch out the eyes of old neighborhoods reflections
a warm familiar chorus as we succumb to lips and lies lashing diamonds.
--------------------------------
you walking down a staircase after the devil beats his wife
I recollect the cards
and suppose all drains lead to somewhere
----------------------------------
every girl wants to hear their man yearns for another woman
-in my blanket fort are the monsters being kept out or held in?
am I a child in the kitchen
as my pickles slide off the stove?
