She Don't Drive
Did she get a DUI?
No! Silly!
Then what the fuck?
She stupid or something?
Nah, she just married
so young she got pregnant
and couldn't take
her vomit bag
behind the wheel
Then she didn't want
nobody watching her kids
Lotsa hours go into learning
What if she keels herself
with babies at home?
What if sitters be too dumb?
too ugly-mean and selfish?
making marks on innocence
Nah, wait till the oldest is
13
Nah... she needs to be able
to drive
in an emergency....
Nah... she just zoomed
away...

What I find so sardonic about this is the vocabulary, which is clearly meant to depict someone who isn't grammatically fluent, and thus uses slang, i.e. - sitters be too dumb. It lends an aura of accent, maybe the deep south or perhaps somewhere in the back-hill country.

Thanks! It was a fun catharsis. And a cautionary tale, if not overly biographical... my dad is from the south. I was raised in northern idaho. 🙂

I did get a southern feel of it as well. I am from Kentucky and have both southern and midwestern roots. This story is a sad but truthful one. Sometimes they just let you down.
