Transatlantic Tears

Can you hear the bongos thumping in the far away distance?
Coming from the Congo; transmitting sounds of resistance
Gotta listen attentively cause you'll only faintly hear
Until you steer your vessels closer; up & away from here

Transatlantic tears over the years have made them mute
Now the masses are more focused on trying to be cute
Cutting the strings of parachutes; deciding just to free fall
Instead of reaching out to touch someone, we now reject the call

The movements have stalled; playing football is more important
Running for the END ZONES; providing others with enjoyment
Deployments are things of the past; most the Soldiers have retired
The ones who kicked ass & took names seem to have expired
