Black People We Stand
Why sit
To continue to be trampled on
Our ancestors in the past
Stood when times were hard
Rosa Parks
Known for being strong
Refusing to give up her seat
Sparked a boycott against what was wrong
The march in Selma
Defined all in one cause
Fighting for voting rights they marched
Taking on police brutality
Never stopping when blood was drawn
Standing together
Our oppressors knew we were strong
By any means
Some fought with peace
And others
Violence was their thing
But still with the same goal
Second class citizens
No longer black people was going for
Eventhough times has changed
We cannot throw in the towel
Or lay back and sit
Because today
Black people we stand
To continue to be trampled on
Our ancestors in the past
Stood when times were hard
Rosa Parks
Known for being strong
Refusing to give up her seat
Sparked a boycott against what was wrong
The march in Selma
Defined all in one cause
Fighting for voting rights they marched
Taking on police brutality
Never stopping when blood was drawn
Standing together
Our oppressors knew we were strong
By any means
Some fought with peace
And others
Violence was their thing
But still with the same goal
Second class citizens
No longer black people was going for
Eventhough times has changed
We cannot throw in the towel
Or lay back and sit
Because today
Black people we stand
