Percussion

At the age of fourteen
I walked to the beat of a different drum
The path seemed so arduous
Wisdom came from a frog with a diamond ring
He said be patience my friend your day will come

Walking home with writing of Rand
I saw tractor left broken in the field
I knew I wasnít lost but had something to sale
Disillusioned by the beat of the band
I guess it was just part of the deal

To beat the beat as part of the band
Itís the rush of it all if you understand
Had my highs and my lows
Friendships, tragedies and foes
All I ever wanted was the beat of the band

I found myself in the amidst of a rush
Wondering where to begin
A wise olť owl which flew by night
Said youíre a blank canvas, pickup your brush
The first note of a drum was heard within

Finally you find all the success
Your buddies are rich itís a journey to see
But tragedy can bring you to your knees
Somethings are hard to confess
Look up at the vapor trails when you think of me

To beat the beat as part of the band
Itís the rush of it all if you understand
Had my highs and my lows
Friendships, tragedies and foes
All I ever wanted was the beat of the band
