Unspoken Rules to parenting
Unspoken Rules to Parenting:
You swear you'll be together forever for them.
Sometimes it doesn't work out like that.
You try to teach and protect them of the world.
Sometimes the world takes them and makes lessons of it.
You work until your bones are sore and your feet stank, and you still come home to cook and clean.
Sometimes it's the little things that don't matter.
You hope and pray that your actions and words will be enough to guide them.
Sometimes you won't be enough, and the voices that are loudest aren't yours.
You watch them grow and leave, giving them everything you have, and even some that you didn't know you had but you found it in you.
Sometimes, they leave with bitter tastes in their mouth from the ugly words they use for you.
You try your hardest to show them truth and love and strength and smarts.
Sometimes they don't want to learn.
You love them anyway, and deliver to them the integrity that you thought you lacked in your childhood.
Sometimes all the love in the world can spit back hate to you.
You speak of them with love.
Sometimes they don't speak of you at all.
You try your hardest.
Sometimes your hardest isn't enough.
You love them anyway.
Sometimes it has to be from a distance.
But...you love them anyway
