the drive

fifteen miles from Rhinelander
tap your foot in time
this sweet harbinger
sounds of a ditty or maybe a rhyme.
sunrise on crystals of snow
feel winter as she blows…
and only to you…the pines…they know.
winding creeks and woodland havens
flocks of the black raven.
memories pieced together, now whole
provide you with firmness that your foot, now holds.
o sweet, you are
twinkling, brighter than,
little tree’s… dog star
my limerick is way much too simple
yet,
will its poetry
etched in warmth by my heart
be able to once again
assist in,
relieving moments of dark.
sprinkle my love upon you as sugar
speak, my love, of your Rhinelander
walls of Oneida
tamaracks and green hued cedars
seaming up the memories,
as if they were cracks
a healing…never needed back.
up upon the smoothness of snow
deep are their tracks
of a buck and his doe.
fifteen miles from Rhinelander
a pounding in your heart,
i understand, you know.
