Running girl

As rhythmic as the break of day
The brown eyed girl runs clean away
Pounding pavements in her mind
She now can leave her cares behind
Fabletics on her muscled form
For eating up the miles she’s born
Now upon the open road
She gently casts off all her load
She feels the wind upon her cheeks
Enjoys the freedom that she seeks
Free to choose which way to go
No one there to tell her no
She sets off on a different track
Not knowing if it takes her back
Or forwards , as soon as she leaves the safe path
The trees now grow thicker and longer the grass
Far in the distance a black jet of speed
It seems like a dog that has loosened it’s lead
It’s fast getting close and it crosses her mind
That she should be alarmed as the owner’s behind
He shouts reassuringly but she can’t hear
What he says and right now the black lurcher is near
But he just runs beside her, his coat shining bright,
While deep in his eyes she can see a strange light
He turns away slightly and looks back to see
If she’ll follow him now on the way that he leads
And that’s how the runner and dog owner met
The rest of the tale we can’t tell you just yet
There is no easy answer, we haven’t a clue
As to how they will get on or what they will do
But the moral we hope that this tale will impart
Is when all hope seems lost just to follow your heart
